Clinton PTA General Meeting, Thursday, Sept. 22nd

Posted September 20th, 2011 by PTA

Our first general meeting of the year will take place on Thursday, September 22 at 7:15 in the cafeteria. PLEASE ENTER THE BUILDING THROUGH THE CAFETERIA ENTRANCE, NEAR PARKING LOT. At this meeting, you will have a chance to meet members of our Executive Board, hear from our fundraising chairs about our goals and plans for this year, and hear from our special guest, Clinton School social worker, Lindy Rollo, LCSW. Ms. Rollo will share information about the new New Jersey anti-bullying law, about what we have always done (and will continue to do) with regard to bullying issues at Clinton School, and what the new law means for teachers, students, families, and our Clinton community. The meeting starts at 7:15 and will be over by 8:30.

And, of course, if you haven’t yet joined the PTA, please consider doing so at at this meeting. $12 per adult in your household supports our cultural arts assemblies, technology purchases for teachers, defrays the costs of school field trips, provides supplies for our classrooms, and more.

We hope to see you there.

Bottle caps (metal, from root beer bottles, beer bottles, etc.) Plastic bottles with interesting bottoms (to use as a fabric stamp) Unused holiday or everyday cards (the kind you get in the mail or as a gift but you might never use) Spare game pieces, dice, etc (this will be used for a mosaic project)

If you have any of these items please send them in to school with your child in a bag/container marked “Craft Fair”

3. DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE CLINTON PTA’S OTHER MOTHERS PROGRAM

Please consider donating your gently used children’s clothes to the Clinton School account at Other Mothers Consignment Shop. This account allows us to assist families in need in our school community.

Here’s how it works:

We have been working with Other Mothers (a consignment store in South
Orange) to maintain an ongoing account that can be used by members of the Clinton School community who are in need of clothing and other necessary items for their families. This account is especially helpful to ensure that families have appropriate winter gear but it also allows us to assist families in need on an ongoing basis. We have provided close to $1200 in gift certificates to families in the past two years.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS ACCOUNT TO HELP OTHER MEMBERS OF THE CLINTON COMMUNITY, please bring your gently used, quality children’s clothing (sizes preemie through child’s 16), maternity clothes, baby items, and baby furniture, into Other Mothers (Monday-Saturday, 10am-3pm) and they will put your percentage of the total resale value into a store credit account for Clinton. This account will then be used by members of our school community who are in need.

Please note that you should check their website
for specific details about their trade-in hours and what they will and will not accept.

Other Mothers is located at 461 Irvington Avenue in South Orange. They are open Mon.-Sat. from 10 to 7:00 pm. Their phone number is 973-762-4343. Trade-in hours are Monday- Saturday from 10am-3pm. Other Mothers only takes items that are clean and in good condition.

4. PARENTING CENTER HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE

Every year The Parenting Center collects toys to distribute to children in need throughout our school district. Toys can be dropped off in the front hallway of Clinton School. Click here to see the flyer with more details:
