It’s Time for The Pumpkin Patch!
Join us on Saturday, October 16th, from 11 am to 2 pm, when we turn the Clinton School front lawn into our very own pumpkin patch. For $4 you can purchase and decorate a pumpkin and enjoy a freshly picked apple and a cup of cider (or you can buy three pumpkins for $10).
We’ll also have savory and sweet treats for sale. If it rains, we’ll be in the cafeteria.
If you can help out that day or make something for our bake sale, contact Lindy Romaine here or Leah Gomberg here

We’ve only had one response to our request for help for the first 2-3
weeks of our fall after school enrichment program. It will take less than an hour of your time on each of those days and with 170 children in the program, we can really use some extra hands to guide the littlest students through the attendance process the first couple of weeks.
Please contact Jenny Tate if you can help beginning this Thursday,
October 7th.

We have four wonderful, experienced proctors for our PTA Fall
After School Enrichment session, but due to the large amount of
kindergartners who have enrolled this fall, we need some extra help
on the first few Thursdays.
We usually pick up the youngest students in their classrooms and
escort them to the gym for attendance for the
first few weeks until they get the hang of it. There are cones in the
gym with class names and they line up behind the cones. On the first
day they are wearing name tags with their names and the name of the
class they are taking to facilitate the process.
The program serves approximately 150 students each session (300 per
year),
so we have many students entering the gym for attendance and the first
few weeks,
until they know where to go and can easily identify their Enrichment
teacher, the more help we have, the better.
Please let us know if you can assist us for the first few Thursdays.
It would mean arriving at school at around 2:00 on the first day (2:20
on subsequent days) and staying until approximately 2:50 pm. You are
also welcome to stay for the entire time and help with classroom
monitoring, etc.

We are at risk of losing this wonderful program for the year if we
can’t get one or two people on board to help. Please consider.
We are in need of an Elementors volunteer for the 10-11 school
year. Read below for more details.
Clinton School has benefited tremendously from the Parenting Center’s
wonderful Elementors Program. This program brings Columbia High School
students to Clinton (once a week for 3 4-week sessions throughout the
year) to mentor our 4th or 5th graders. Each session has a different
theme and last year we had soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, and games. The high
school students are amazing with our students and our students love
every minute of their Elementors time.
In order to participate in this program we need one parent volunteer
(or two can share the job) to be at Clinton School to facilitate
the Elementors once a week (There are usually 3 4-week sessions).
The volunteer will be at school for approximately one hour.
Here is how it works:
Our volunteer will meet the Elementors at Clinton (they arrive on a
district
bus), bring them to the cafeteria where they will have lunch, and then
gather the Clinton students who will participate during their recess.
The volunteer will loosely facilitate the time the Elementors spend
with our students (i.e. being sure equipment is ready and available, that space is free, etc.).
Volunteers always find this experience very rewarding and it’s a
perfect chance to get a glimpse of the great, great students our high school
produces.
Can you help? Would you like to hear more about it? Please contact

The Clinton School PTA is responsible for many important programs, projects, and events at Clinton School. We ALWAYS need volunteers, and we encourage you to become involved in a way that suits your family and your schedule.
Choosing to become involved in our children’s school is a great way to show them that we value their education. Please take some time to read through this handout to get a better idea of how you might become involved in our school community. Whether you have a lot or a little free time, artistic skills or not, if you’re handy with a shovel or a hammer, know how to make a great chocolate-chip cookie, or are simply willing to help where you are needed, we will find a way for you to share your time and energy with Clinton School.
Please review the form here and return it to your child’s teacher. We know the form says to complete it by September 21 but we are still accepting forms.

Clinton students are currently completing a drawing in art class that will be part of the Clinton School PTA Display My Art fundraiser. Every child will get a free magnet with her/his drawing and parents will have the opportunity to purchase other items. Order forms and more details will be sent home soon.
Our wonderful art teacher, Ms. Tischio, has been kind enough to help us facilitate this project and we would like to assist her while the students are working on their art.
If you can spare an hour or two this week or next, it would be greatly appreciated.
We especially need help during the younger students’ art classes.
The kindergarten classes have art between 9:15 and 10:05, Mon-Thurs.
1st grade has art from 10:10-11:00, Mon-Fri 2nd grade has art from 12:50 to 1:40 on Tues, Wed, Fri
If you can help, please contact our Fundraising VP Janet Trzaska click here.
If you would like to help when your child’s class is in art, Janet can tell you which day they go.
