Don’t forget to come to our amazing Pumpkin Patch tomorrow.
Due to a very windy forecast, the Pumpkin Patch will be held in the cafeteria. Please enter the school through the cafeteria doors (in the parking lot). the hours are 11-2. All other details are below in the original announcement.
Also, be sure to have your child wear a smock or clothes that can get “decorated.”
You can also join our PTA ($12 membership fee) while you are there, if you haven’t already. We have set a goal of 250 members this year and we are getting closer to breaking 200. Please join! You will find yourself amidst a group of very committed, creative, energetic, and caring people.
Speaking of committed people, many wonderful volunteers make the Pumpkin Patch possible every year but a special thanks needs to be paid to the chair of the event, Leah Gomberg, who actually transports hundreds of pumpkins from an upstate NY farm in her Honda min-van every year to make this event possible. Leah’s very sweet father, Seymour, who passed away this summer, used to play a key role in the pumpkin gathering and transporting process, so this year the Clinton School Pumpkin Patch is missing a very, very good friend.
Many, many thanks to Mr. Gordon and his wonderful daughter for allowing us to celebrate such a wonderful community event every October. For this we are very grateful.
Here are all the details:
All Pumpkin Patch details here:
Join us on Saturday, October 16th, from 11 am to 2 pm, when we turn the Clinton School front lawn into our very own pumpkin patch. For $4 you can purchase and decorate a pumpkin and enjoy a freshly picked apple and a cup of cider (or you can buy three pumpkins for $10).
We’ll also have savory and sweet treats for sale. If it rains, we’ll be in the cafeteria.

Gym class will never be the same, as Clinton School’s fourth and fifth graders learned salsa and meringue dance steps and had a high-energy exercise workout during a Zumba class in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The Zumba classes took place during gym class periods on Oct. 8 and 9.
Students swayed their hips from side to side and waved their arms in the air to the pulsating beats of the Latin music at the hour-long Zumba class. Clinton principal Patricia O’Neill and several teachers even joined in the action.
Meg Hanley, one of Clinton’s English Language Learning (ELL) teachers, was instrumental in organizing the Zumba class. The classes were made possible with the support of Clinton School’s PTA.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15. The heritage month celebrates the histories, diverse culture and traditions, and contributions of Americans who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. The celebration is significant because it is observed during the Independence Days for several Latin American countries.
Third through 5th graders will also participate in a “Reading Fiesta” raffle where they will read books recommended by their Spanish teachers.
Clinton School, which has one of the most diverse populations in the school district, celebrates six cultural heritage months throughout the school year. Each month, the school features colorful display case highlighting personal essays, photos and contributions from Clinton students to highlight a cultural heritage.
The school also holds a PTA-sponsored raffle that encourages students to write three interesting facts learned from the display. Names are drawn from a raffle box and a student in each grade will win a gift certificate or small gift.
More pictures and a video to come.
