From the PTA President

August 25, 2015

Dear Clinton Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Clinton School! If you are a returning family, you know that our building is staffed by talented, hard working, and creative individuals who seek to motivate and challenge all of our students each day. If you are a new family, we are thrilled to have you at Clinton Elementary and know you will quickly come to see how great a place it is for our children to learn and grow.

We hope that each adult member of your household will consider joining the PTA. Of your $12 dues, almost $5 goes to the national and state PTAs. The remainder helps resource our classrooms, enrich our children’s learning, and strengthen our teachers’ capacity to serve our students. Each year we provide every teacher a stipend to buy classroom supplies, purchase agendas for students, fund all cultural arts assemblies, and subsidize field trips for every class. Over the past year, we were also able to fund major upgrades to our library, provide additional learning software for math classes, purchase a basketball hoop for the playground, expand the Clinton Garden to include a bed for every classroom, and upgrade the kitchen in the Teachers’ Lounge. These are just some of the many ways your support helps the PTA enhance our children’s education.

The PTA also hosts many activities throughout the school year to strengthen the Clinton community. We hope that you will join us, or even consider volunteering, for one or more of these fun events. The PTA calendar is available by clicking here, and the South Orange-Maplewood School District Calendar is available here.

Our first event is the PTA Back-to-School Coffee (BYOC – bring your own coffee), right after drop off on the first day of school, Thursday, September 2nd. Please stop by to join the PTA, sign up to volunteer in Art or Library, and for our Green Team, and meet other Clinton families. If you can’t make it, membership and volunteer forms will be sent home in your child’s backpack during the first week of school. Our first General PTA meeting will be held Thursday, October 1st at 7:15pm, and our theme for the evening is “How to Get Involved at Clinton!” The PTA always needs volunteers. We hope to see you there.

Our public schools are as good as we choose to make them. We are happy that you chose Clinton, and look forward to seeing you this year.

Sincerely,
Andrea Beck
Clinton Elementary PTA President
