Petition to Combat State Reduction in Aid for Schools

Posted March 24th, 2010 by PTA

The drastic reduction in state aid for school districts is having a devastating effect on districts throughout New Jersey, including ours.

Some of the damage, including some of the cuts our own school district has been forced to make, are outlined in this NJ.com article.

Next year promises to be even worse.

The Our Children Our Schools Campaign is a coalition of some of NJ’s most prominent education advocacy and civil rights groups whose goal is to inform public debate on important education issues such as school funding, and to advocate for high quality education for all New Jersey children.

Their current campaign for the full funding of state school aid should be of great interest to parents in the South Orange-Maplewood community. If you would like to learn more about this effort and/or sign a petition, please see the flyer.

The petition can be printed out, signed, and mailed in or you can sign online (instructions are included in the flyer).

A Note from Principal O’Neill

After last year’s Around the World in 80 Minutes, I thought to myself, how could this be topped? Well, after this past weekend’s performances of The 60s: It’s What’s Happening, you topped it and I can’t wait for next year!!!!!

The dedication, commitment, talent, and creativity of this community never ceases to amaze me. Your collaborative efforts have produced not only a spectacular show but amazing insights for us into your child’s talents and interests.

I am deeply grateful for your continued support of Clinton School and am so very happy that I remembered all the words to all the songs!!!!

Thank you all again,
Patty

Cinderella at South Orange Middle School

Posted March 22nd, 2010 by PTA

Hopefully your children had the opportunity to either participate in or witness Clinton School’s spectacular All School Revue this past weekend. Ideally you will continue to foster their interest in theatre by exposing them to the impressive dancing, singing, and acting that will occur next weekend during South Orange Middle School’s production of Cinderella. This promises to be a great show featuring some Clinton School alumni, and we want your children to feel excited about the theatre opportunities that await them in their middle school.

Show times are Friday and Saturday, March 26 & 27 at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday, March 28 at 2:00 P.M. Reserved seating is $15.00 (rows 1 – 10). General Admission is $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students/ seniors. Advance General Admission Tickets are available for purchase at kitchen a la mode, South Orange; The Messy Artist, South Orange; Words, Maplewood; No. 165, Maplewood; and Park Wood Diner, Maplewood.
