Recess first, then lunch
Posted Wednesday, February 3, 2010 by PTA.
As you may know, the Clinton administration joined the growing movement this year to send the kids out for recess before going back inside for lunch. Some of the benefits that the staff have noticed include:
• Improved cafeteria behavior (calmer and more relaxed)
• Students retuning to classroom calmer and ready to learn.
• Students drink more milk and throw away less food.
• Students eat more
• Fewer discipline problems
• Fewer visits to the school nurse
You may have also noticed that the children are going outside more often. Be sure to bundle them up on those cold days because if the temperature is 30°F/-1°C or above (and not raining), the kids get to go outside and get some fresh air.
