Reminder – end of enrichment

Posted December 8th, 2009 by PTA

Just a reminder that our PTA Fall After School Enrichment Program ends this coming Thursday, December 10th.

The session was a great success and accommodated more than 160 students for eight creative and fun-filled weeks. Many thanks to our amazing proctors, Lisa, Liz, and Jenny, who kept things running so smoothly and to the parents who helped guide our youngest students during the first couple of weeks, Tracey, Ilena, Victoria, Maria, and Rosalene. And a big THANK YOU to Cecelia for organizing the whole program for our kids!

After School Enrichment will be back again in the spring for another 8- week session beginning Thursday, March 25th (after our All-School Musical Revue), so look for registration materials in late February or early March.

The PTA would love to hear your thoughts about your child’s experience during the session, so please take a few minutes to complete our questionnaire.

Completed questionnaires can be emailed to ccancellaro@verizon.net or can be sent to school in your child’s backpack marked “PTA/After School Enrichment.”

Thanks!

It’s time for the Parenting Center’s Holiday Toy Drive

Posted December 7th, 2009 by PTA

Each year the Parenting Center collects toys for needy children in the South Orange & Maplewood School District and Clinton School is a collection site. Many children benefit from this effort so your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Please drop off an unwrapped toy for children ages infant to 16. We usually get many more toys for little ones than teens, so if you can drop off something that would appeal to teenagers that would be great, but items for all ages are needed.

THE DRIVE RUNS FROM DECEMBER 1ST-14TH.

The collection box is in the front hallway of Clinton School so you can drop the toy off there or have your child bring the toy to school and deposit it in the collection box.

Clinton School has been a great supporter of this effort in years past and we look forward to another very generous season.

Read a nice article about the Toy Drive on Patch.

More Musical Revue Volunteers Needed Before We Can Commit to Putting on a Show

Posted December 5th, 2009 by PTA

You may have noticed that you didn’t receive registration forms for the school play this week. This week was when we wanted to get them out to everyone. And it wasn’t because we didn’t have time to do it. Here’s the deal: we have only 9 numbers for the show, which is not enough to accommodate all of the kids who want to do it.

Here is what we could use: Beach boys, Monkeys, comedy, frankly anything. If you have an idea, go for it, if you don’t let’s talk, just plug yourself in to the system and let’s find a way to make it happen. We had 14 numbers last year, and that is really the minimum that we can work with. (Ideally we would have 15-17 numbers.)

If anyone out there thinks that the people who have come forward so far have some extra time on their hands, you’re wrong. Most of our directors work outside of the home. I myself am back in school, full time, 6 days a week. Everyone involved is going that extra mile. And what is the extra mile? It is adding, for 8 weeks, 1hour and 15 minutes to your “to do list”. Is everyone busy? sure! Are times hard? Sure! Is it exhausting in the end? Heck yes! But is it rewarding? Worthwhile? A blast? YES! YES! YES!

The show was an incredibly rewarding experience for Clinton students last year and we really want them to have it again. And remember, no directing or theatrical experience is necessary.

If you think you can help, please contact Suzanne. See the show page for more information.
