Clinton School Awarded National PTA Grant

Posted January 3rd, 2008 by PTA

We are extremely excited to report that the Clinton School PTA has
been awarded a grant from the National PTA for their National Take
Your Family to School Week. 340 schools across the U.S. applied for
the grant and there were only 32 grants awarded.  We are thrilled to
be one of those 32 (and only one of two schools in the northeast).

The grant, for $1,897, is meant to cover the cost of a school event
that represents and will attract our entire school community.

In order to get the grant, we came up with an idea for an evening
event that represents our school’s multicultural community. The event
will be called “Walk Around the World.” We will set areas of our
school up as different countries (between 4 and 5), and when families
enter those areas they will experience the music, food, art, and
language of that particular country/culture. They’ll also get a map
when they enter, to navigate their way around the “world,” and they’ll
receive passports that will be stamped as they enter these countries.

We would like to ask you to consider being a
part of putting this event together. We have plenty of money to spend
on supplies and materials but we need people to join this effort. We
will form committees for each country chosen and committee members
will put together interactive displays.

This will be an event that we open up to the entire district and
because we are among a select few to receive this grant, we expect to
get a great deal of publicity for our wonderful school.

If you want to be a part of helping us plan Walk Around the World,
please send an email to Cecelia Cancellaro at ccancellaro@verizon.net
